FreedomWorks for America Congratulates Jeff Flake on Arizona Senate Primary Victory

By Jacqueline Bodnar, 08/29/12

Washington, DC- FreedomWorks for America congratulates a true conservative reformer Jeff Flake on his Arizona Republican Senate primary victory over opponent Wil Cardon. Flake was outspent by the Cardon campaign by a ratio of roughly 2 to 1, yet prevailed to victory by a comfortable margin.
FreedomWorks for America President Matt Kibbe commented, “Jeff Flake’s victory is not only a win for the state of Arizona, but a win for those individuals around the country who are working to gain a fiscally conservative majority in the Senate. Flake has not been afraid to confront the Republican establishment on wasteful spending, and spearheaded the fight against earmarks and TARP in the House. Fiscal warriors like Jeff Flake are exactly what the Senate needs to return the American economy onto the path to growth and prosperity.”
Russ Walker, National Political Director of FreedomWorks for America, added, “Flake’s primary victory is a clear continuation of the grassroots momentum we have seen in other Senate races, including Indiana and Texas. This national wave of underdog victories are proof that strong, candidates, armed with solid policy ideas and grassroots support, can prevail over big money and television ads. The playing field for political campaigns has changed. The era of top-down political organizing is over.”
