Residency-gate continues to become more problematic for Senator Dick Lugar. It has been known for a while that Lugar stays in hotels when he visits Indiana, for obvious reasons. He hasn’t owned a house there since he won his first election in 1977 and decided to move to McLean, Virginia.  And apparently, as Politico is reporting today, he’s been staying at these hotels on the taxpayer’s dime.

Lugar's Loss is Mourdock's Gain

Two new polls released today from Indiana (Global Strategy Group & Wenzel Strategies) show Richard Mourdock gaining major ground on the incumbent Dick Lugar.  Both polls reached the same conclusion, showing Mourdock cutting Lugar’s lead to just 45% - 39%. That is exactly half of the 12 point lead held by Lugar only weeks ago, when Lugar led by 48%-36%.

Lugar's Residency Troubles

Today, the Marion County Election Board in Indiana ruled that Senator Dick Lugar is ineligible to vote in his own precinct. This is due to the fact that, after winning a seat in the U.S. Senate for the first time in 1977, Lugar promptly sold his home in Indianapolis, IN and decided to reside solely in McLean, VA.
